To the Tip - a Trip: People Thus Far

We have crossed the Paraguay-Argentine boarder, arriving to Posadas two nights ago where we were welcomed by Sergio Dobrusin and Alicia Orflia and their daughter Maia. Posadas is a hoppin' middle-sized city that pushes up against the Rio Paraná across from Encarnación, Paraguay. Before heading from this region of rivers, jungle, Guaraní, chipa, Jesuit Mission Ruins and red earth, we'd like to take this time and space to present those who have hosted us thus far. In Kabeyu Retá, the Espinosa Galeano Family treated us to tereré, tortillas, oranges from the yard and many laughs when we did not understand each other between Guaraní, Spanish and English. Isaiah and Allison are Peace Corps volunteers living for their second year in Yuty and specializing in making all the things they like to eat despite low availability of foods (like plain yogurt in a thermos). Gabriel is another Peace Corps volunteer who lives with Blanca and Fatima in General Artigas. We listened to Miike Snow, invented vegetable empanada recipes and Blanca sent us on our way with a huge loaf of sugar cane honey bread. And here we are in the Dobrusin abode, being spoiled by this lovely family who has shared with us some much needed advice as we head towards the Andes tomorrow.

Hemos cruzado la frontera de Paraguay-Argentina, llegando a Posadas hace dos días donde nos encontramos con Sergio Dobrusin, Alicia Orfila y sus hija Maia. Posadas es una linda ciudad, pegado al gran Rio Paraná en frente Encarnación, Paraguay. Antes de irnos de este región lleno de ríos, selva, Guaraní, chipa, ruinas Jesuiticas y tierra roja, queremos agradecer la gente que nos ha recibido hasta ahora. En Kabeyu Retá la familia Espinoza Galeano nos invitaron a tereré, tortillas, naranjas del patio y nos reímos mucho cuando no nos entendíamos entre jopará, castellano y ingles. Isaiah y Allison son voluntarios de cuerpo de paz quienes viven en Yuty y se especializan en cocinar las cosas que les gustan aunque no se encuentra los ingredientes allí. Gabriel es otro voluntario quien vive con Blanca y Fatima en General Artigas. Allí escuchamos música, inventamos recetas de empanadas de verdura y Blanca nos hizo un rico pan de miel de caña. Y acá estamos en la casa de la familia Dobrusin, mimadas por esta hermosa familia quien nos ayudo con muchos ideas de todo lo que hay de conocer de su país.
